The ACM SIGAccess Riyadh Chapter was chartered in Winter 2018. The mission of our chapter is to promote accessible technology research in the Arab community. It also aims to connect people from industry and academia by providing opportunities to network and discuss the future of accessible technology in the community.
Chapter participation provides a unique combination of social interaction and professional dialogue among peers, in our geographic area. Membership to SIGAccess’ Riyadh chapter is open to the local community with interest in applying computing and information technologies for the purpose of empowering persons with disabilities and older adults.
SIGAccess Riyadh represents a diverse membership of people that are associated with SIGAccess who share a common location in Riyadh. Chapters are groups of people, who, by banding together, can speak with a common voice within SIGAccess; can more effectively organize the activities that are of interest to them; can obtain services that support their activities.
ACM SIGAccess Riyadh is an association chapter that is run entirely by volunteers and is comprised of three officers: Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary/Treasurer. Any help to run the organisation is welcome and gives members influence over meetings and events, as well as support networking and contact with professionals. Chapter volunteers and members can contribute any amount of time and effort in a variety of areas, e.g. logistics, meetings, events, publicity, and liaison with other organisations. Chapter members’ backgrounds represent all facets of computing, from academia, research, business and industry.
